Dua puluh tahun lalu lebih saya bertemu Abdullah Hehamahua, saya memanggilnya bang Dul. Saat itu saya masih mahasiswa. Pertemuan yang berlangsung di sekitar Tebet itu terjadi dalam suasana diskusi santai tapi masih membekas dalam nalar dan nurani saya. Banyak kisah keteladananya tentang integritasnya yang diceritakan banyak orang. Tentang tak mau menerima suap, tak mau menerima bayaran saat menjadi pembicara seminar jika diundang sebagai penasehat KPK, tak mau menggunakan fasilitas negara saat bepergian untuk kepentingan pribadinya, dll.

Sosoknya yang sederhana, pemikiranya yang bernas dengan perspektif Islam yang kuat, rasional dan maju telah menginspirasi saya untuk memilih jalan intelektual. Pemikiran Islamnya yang kuat tak menegasikan pemahaman kebangsaanya yang sangat menghargai keragaman. Bahwa ia sadar lahir dan besar di Republik yang ia cintai ini dengan segala keragamanya.

Waktu itu saya bertanya-tanya bagaimana implementasinya dalam kehidupan bang Dullah sehari-hari. Karena pertemuan yang singkat dan bang Dullah harus segera kembali ke Malaysia untuk waktu yang lama, saya hanya bisa merenung tentang sosok sederhana ini. Belakangan bang Dullah bercerita bahwa suatu ketika saat bang Dullah menjadi penasehat KPK rapat di bulan Ramadhan siang hari bang Dullah protes _”saya tidak akan mulai rapat sebelum ada makan siang tersedia !”_ Nadanya agak keras dan semua yang hadir bingung dan memberi tau bahwa itu hari bulan puasa. Lalu bang Dullah mengatakan “saya berpuasa, tapi diantara peserta rapat disini ada yang beragama non Islam, sediakan makanan untuk mereka, baru saya akan mulai pimpin rapat!”. Sontak staff KPK menyiapkanya dan berdecak kagum, luar biasa, suatu teladan toleransi seorang muslim, toleransi iya praktekan tanpa kehilangan ketaatanya pada agama.

Suatu malam setelah beredar surat terbukanya jelang sidang MK, saya bertemu beliau, ia bercerita…”saya hanya mengikuti pikiran jernih dan suara hati saya, berdasarkan data-data yang saya miliki terkait politik, terkait kondisi sosial ekonomi, terkait kondisi anak muda, bahwa negeri ini kalau dibiarkan sedang mengarah pada kehancuran sistematis. Saya tidak mau terjebak oleh persoalan dua kubu dalam pilpres 2019. Saya teriris ketika terjadi ketidakjujuran, saya terluka ketika terjadi ketidakadilan, saya tergerak ketika terjadi kejahatan kemanusiaan, ketika ada anak remaja belia yang tertembak peluru tajam…..saya mengikhlaskan diri niat karena Allah turun kejalan untuk meluruskan negeri yang saya cintai ini….”

Diskusi singkat nan menyentuh itu membuat saya tak banyak tanya lagi, saya termenung sambil tak tahan meneteskan air mata….lalu berkata dalam hati.. “bang Dullah abang sudah berusia 70 tahun…saya bersaksi abang berhati bersih mencintai negeri ini dan mengkhawatirkan masa depannya… “

Terimakasih bang Dullah, telah mengisi dahaga anak muda yang rindu keteladanan…..
