Babak baru dimulai, Uber pakai puluhan ribu mobil tanpa sopir

Stockholm (Zonasatu News)– Era mobil tanpa sopir sudah mulai dekat. Volvo akan menyerahkan puluhan ribu mobil tanpa sopir untuk armada taksi online Uber. Pengguna Uber akan bisa menggunakan mobil tanpa sopir antara 2019-2021.

Mobil tanpa sopir yang dimaksud adalah mobil-mobil yang dikembangkan dengan platform Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). SPA diklaim Volvol sebagai arsitektur mobil yang paling canggih di dunia. Mobil yang sudah menggunakan arsitektur ini antara lain seri 90 dan SUV XC60.

SUV XC90 yang bisa melaju sendiri akan dikirim menjadi mobil taksi online Uber.

Volvo dan Uber sebelumnya meneken perjanjian non eksklusif penyediaan mobil pada bulan Agustus 2016 lalu.

“Industri otomotif sedang terganggu oleh teknologi, dan Volvo memilih untuk menjadi bagian dari ‘gangguan’ itu,” ujar Presiden dan CEO Volvo Håkan Samuelsson yang menginginkan Volvo menjadi suplier car sharing di pasar global.

Volvo sudah bekerja sama dengan insinyur Uber untuk mengembangkan SUV XC90 yang akan digunakan Uber. Mobil memiliki berbagai fitur keamanan yang penting dan teknologi mobil otonom yang dibutuhkan Uber.
