Setiap 22 Desember, kita memperingati Hari Ibu. Setiap orang memiliki pengalaman berbeda-beda dalam memperingati dan memaknai Hari Ibu. Namun, banyak sekali anak-anak terinspirasi hidupnya oleh sosok ibu. Anies Baswedan salah satunya.

Prof. Dr. Aliyah Rasyid Baswedan, M.Pd., ibu Anies Baswedan, adalah seorang dosen dan guru besar emeritus di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Prof. Aliyah menjadi dosen sejak tahun 1965. Selain itu, dia juga aktif di berbagai kegiatan sosial kemasyarakatan di Jogja. Salah satunya adalah penyaluran beasiswa bagi siswa dan mahasiswa dari keluarga prasejahtera.

Ibu Aliyah mendirikan Yayasan Orbit Yogya untuk memberikan beasiswa bagi mahasiswa, terutama dari luar Jawa yang kuliah di Jogja. Yayasan itu tidak hanya memberikan beasiswa tetapi juga memberikan pembimbingan dan pelatihan serta pengembangan jaringan dan informasi.

Karier dan aktivisme Aliyah, ternyata menjadi inspirasi bagi Anies Baswedan untuk mengikuti jejak sang ibu. Anies, juga tumbuh dan besar di dunia pendidikan. Ia pernah menjadi dosen dan rektor di Universitas Paramadina.

Aktivitasnya di bidang pendidikan tidak dibatasi oleh ruang kelas dan gedung kampus. Seperti ibunya, Anies juga aktif memajukan dunia pendidikan dan menjalankan kegiatan-kegiatan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat Indonesia.

Indonesia Mengajar adalah gerakan yang diinisiasi oleh Anies Baswedan. Gerakan ini mengajak seluruh lapisan masyarakat Indonesia ikut mendorong peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di Indonesia.

Sejak berdiri pada 2009, Indonesia mengajar sudah mengirim 1.157 Pengajar Muda ke berbagai lokasi terpencil di Indonesia. Aktivitas Pengajar Muda di berbagai daerah di Indonesia telah melibatkan lebih dari 106 ribu orang dengan interaksi lebih dari 38 juta kali.

Ada akselerasi peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di berbagai daerah, sejak program Indonesia Mengajar digulirkan. Berbagai elemen saling berkolaborasi dan bekerja sama untuk memenuhi cita-cita para founding fathers, yaitu mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa.

Aktivitas sosial dari Aliyah, juga menginspirasi Anies Baswedan, sehingga menginisiasi gerakan TurunTangan. Gerakan ini melakukan inkubasi untuk kegiatan-kegiatan yang disiapkan untuk pegiat sosial di daerah. Jargon TurunTangan: “Pejuang Bukan…? HADAPI!” adalah pesan kuat dari Ibunda Aliyah ketika menghadapi masalah.

Gerakan TurunTangan telah mencatat keikutsertaan lebih dari 53.000 orang relawan. Basis aktivitasnya meluas hingga ke 77 daerah di seluruh Indonesia. Aktivitas gerakan TurunTangan sangat beragam, khususnya di bidang pendidikan, sosial kemanusiaan, lingkungan, kesehatan, dan pendidikan politik.

Tidak hanya berasal dari ibunya, Anies ternyata juga terinspirasi dari aktivisme dari neneknya, bernama Ibu Barkah. Nenek Anies Baswedan adalah aktivis perempuan pada zamannya. Ibu Barkah turut terlibat dalam penyelenggaraan Kongres Perempuan pertama di Jogja tahun 1928.

Sang nenek waktu itu hampir gagal berangkat di Tegal menuju ke Jogja. Tentara Belanda melarang para Barkah dan teman-temannya untuk berangkat ke Jogja. Namun, Barkah tak gentar. Bersama teman-temannya mereka melawan dengan cara berbaring di atas rel yang akan dilewati kereta api.

Di bawah terik matahari, di depan moncong lokomotif mereka pasang badan: “berangkatkan kami atau matikan kami.” Akhirnya tentara Belanda menyerah pada kegigihan para emak-emak itu, dan membolehkan berangkat ke Jogja.

Kongres Perempuan pertama tersebut diadakan pada 22-25 Desember 1928. Hari pertama Kongres tersebut kemudian kita peringati sebagai Hari Ibu, tiap tanggal 22 Desember. Di situlah disuarakan kesetaraan dan perubahan, dalam perjuangan mewujudkan cita-cita Indonesia.
