Hati Paidi terus bergemuruh dzikir, kadang suara sapunya ketika digerakkan ketanah berbunyi seakan ikut berdzikir mengiringi dzikir dalam hatinya. Sejak saat itu Paidi makin tekun dan tawadluk melayani para santri.

Benar saja, selepas dhuha kira kira jam 10 an pintu gerbang Pondok dibuka dan sebuah sedan Sitroen mendekat ke ndalem Kyai. Dua orang bule dan seorang lagi orang kita yang berpakaian necis berdasi keluar mobil sedang si sopir memarkir kendaraannya di tempat yang telah disediakan.

Si bule ngomong ingin buang air kecil dulu dalam bahasa Perancis pada temannya….

“Disana, tuan… barusan saya bersihkan, kalau ada kurangnya tolong sampeyan beri tahu saya”.. cerocos wali Paidi yang tiba-tiba seperti mengerti bahasa Perancis yang diucapkan oleh orang Perancis tersebut.

Dan Wali Paidi meskipun berbahasa lokal, namun diterima oleh orang Perancis seperti dalam bahasa Perancis yang fasih.

Bule itu tersenyum dan ketiganya menuju tempat yang ditunjukkan wali Paidi. Selesai ketiganya buang air, mereka masuk ndalem yang sudah ditunggu oleh pak Kyai.

Kira-kira 45 menitan mereka di dalam, mereka keluar sambil ketawa-ketawa diantar oleh pak Kyai dan terdengar celotehan dalam bahasa Inggris bahwa akan melihat-lihat pondok.

Melihat wali Paidi masih disitu, pak Kyai minta supaya wali Paidi ikut menemani Kyai keliling Pondok.

Akhirnya wali Paidi seolah menjadi seorang guide yang menerangkan berbagai tempat dalam pondok itu dengan bahasa Perancis dan bahasa Inggris yang fasih dan sangat dimengerti oleh mereka. Kejadian terekam dan tersaksikan beberapa santri dan pak Kyai sendiri.

Namun di hadapan santri utamanya pada keluarga pak Kyai, sikap Paidi layaknya seorang kacung yang selalu mengalah serta manut saja ketika disuruh-suruh. Hal ini menjadikannya banyak santri semakin santun padanya, namun ada juga santri yang agak kurang ajar kepadanya.

Suatu ketika Ada santri hafids (hapal Al Qur’an) menggodanya rada kelewatan sehingga sedikit mengganggu hatinya, Paidi mencoba menahan hatinya namun masih tampak juga di raut wajahnya.

Lalu tiba-tiba saja hapalan santri tadi hilang, santri yang sudah hafal 30 juz ini bingung karena ujian kelulusannya sebentar lagi diujikan, sedang syarat kelulusannya adalah harus hapal al Quran 30 juz.

Peristiwa hilangnya hapalan santri ini akhirnya dilaporkan ke Pak kyai.
